Environmental and Resource Management

The environment that pastoralists in habited in the Horn of Africa are basic to their way of life. It is therefore vitally important that the complex totality of the eco-system is understood and communicated generally to the public and to policy makers and concerned environmental entities.

Under this thematic area we have been working on different dimensions, some of them are:
  • Providing training for pastoralists communities and community based organisations about the sustainable management and development of the natural resource

  • Providing training on animal fodders and farming methods that are environmentally friendly

  • Promotion of research on indigenous knowledge of pastoral resources and development. PENHA has been working to reveal the untapped knowledge based pastoralist traditional grazing system which needs further research.
