What we do
We deliver training, organisational development and empowerment of the pastoralist communities at country and regional levels. We also focus on capacity building for communities, civil society organisations and local ministries.
We do advocate for pastoralist livelihoods as a sustainable and productive way of life and put it as our long-term strategy. This includes awareness raising at all levels (community, policy, public sector level etc.) to change misconceptions and negative attitudes towards pastoralism by providing up to date, concrete, strong and holistic information and data.
Our main tool for influencing policy towards pastoralism and the design of development programmes is action-oriented research. Hence, PENHA and its associates have produced a significant amount of research and consultancy reports since 1989. We value Indigenous Knowledge and Practices; and Afro-centric perspectives on African Contemporary Issues.
We implement projects at ground via creating and strengthening genuine partnership based on gender based participatory approach.
For Governments, International Organization, Regional Organization and universities and research centres.
